With a knockout lineup featuring Skrillex, Bassnectar and Louis the Child, the fest had everything it needed to run well into the morning hours on Friday and Saturday nights.
Skrillex and Bassnectar, two EDM veterans, came in facing high expectations, on which they delivered. Skrillex thrilled on Friday night with his slick hip-hop remixes of Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” and Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode.” He also dabbled in dubstep on the legendary track “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
Bassnectar’s spectacular laser-riddled display on Saturday served as a fitting backdrop for his fuzzy, blown-out style. Fans moved to every cut or bass drop he threw their way.
Despite everything the two artists offered however, Louis the Child outdid them. The group, made up of two young DJs from Chicago, Robby Hauldren and Frederic Kennett, delivered a set that featured mesmerizing kaleidoscope visuals, live percussion and the kind of energy that outlasts the music. It was everything you need from a solid EDM performance.
