A massive new Jersey Shore country music festival just announced its 1st headliner - PennLive

An enormous new festival set to commandeer the Jersey Shore this summer is coming into focus.

The Barefoot Country Music Festival, which hits the Wildwood beach June 19 to 21, announced Tuesday its first headliner: country-pop megastar and former “American Idol” champion Carrie Underwood.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. More than 30 acts will take the sand between Wildwood’s iconic Morey’s Piers. The festival says more artist announcements are “coming soon.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, January 10 at 8 a.m. on Barefoot’s website. Basic general admission starts at $149 for the three-day fest, or you can go big with the $949 Super VIP package, which includes food, drinks and “private, posh bathrooms.”

Southern Entertainment, the company behind the Carolina Country Music Festival — the east coast’s largest outdoor country fest — is organizing Barefoot. Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano told NJ Advance Media last month that the festival will be able to hold between 75,000 and 100,000 patrons.

Underwood, 36, is one of the best-selling female country artists of all time and no stranger to the shore: her last New Jersey performance was at the Hard Rock Atlantic City in 2017, where the “Before He Cheats” singer played the casino’s opening weekend.

Underwood’s most recent release was 2018′s No. 1 LP “Cry Pretty.” We covered her energizing “Cry Pretty 360” tour at Madison Square Garden in October.
