4 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore; 5000 Changi Airport workers tested after 2 cases detected last month - CNA

SINGAPORE: Four new COVID-19 cases were reported in Singapore as of noon on Friday (Nov 6), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

All four cases were imported infections and were placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore. They were all asymptomatic.

No locally transmitted cases were reported on Friday. The new infections bring Singapore's tally of COVID-19 cases to 58,047.

IMPORTED CASES

The imported cases include three who are currently employed in Singapore.

One is a work pass holder who arrived from France, while another is a work permit holder who arrived from the Philippines.

The third is a short-term visit pass holder who arrived from the UK and is an engineer on a work project in Singapore.

The fourth imported case is a special pass holder who is a crew member of a ship which arrived from the US. She had not disembarked from the ship and was swabbed on board upon arrival, MOH said.

TESTING WORKERS AT CHANGI AIRPORT TERMINAL 3

The ministry said 5,084 people working at Changi Airport Terminal 3 who may have contact with travellers have been tested and screened.

"This was a precautionary measure following the detection of two cases who had worked at the terminal," MOH said.

All 5,084 results have come back negative for COVID-19.

"We are working with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to facilitate testing for 33 remaining individuals who have yet to be swabbed," said MOH, adding that they have been temporarily suspended from duties until they test negative for the coronavirus.

The cluster at Tuas South Dormitory has closed, as there have been no more cases linked to the cluster in the last 28 days, said MOH.

TEN MORE DISCHARGED

Ten more COVID-19 cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 57,959 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 36 COVID-19 patients who are still in hospital, MOH said. Of these, most are stable or improving, and no one is in the intensive care unit.

A total of 24 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are patients who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

Twenty-eight people have died from complications due to COVID-19.
